It started with the desire to make some small shrines to send to some of the members here who have been so supportive of me in the endeavor of AAO, and who helped me through some recent rough spots in the road of Life...
I decided that I wanted them somewhat "thematic."
First, the bases. I had some coasters from the Thrift store, that I had purchased for the coaster holder. The box said "Imported from Italy," which makes them a bit out of the ordinary, like me.
I took them outside and painted them flat black, with gloss black around the outer rim.
Next I went through my "batch stash" of goodies. These are things that there are more than 3 of. Often, it's sections of watchbands or bracelets, but also things that accumulate over time as I disassemble various pieces.
I wanted to center these "Shrinelets" around these small cupid hearts that were once a watchband. They would signify the love and friendship of this series of pieces.
I used various tassle-type hangings to signify the flexiblity needed in Life, which friendship can help provide, and then I added metal end pieces from Bolo ties, because they resembled antennaes, to represent the long distances between us, yet the ability to be "tuned in" to each other.
Then, I added a central "focal point" to each one to help visually tie the other pieces together...
And here is the end of this phase:

Now I have to mount wire hangers on them, and paint embellish them.
Can I finish all 8 in one day? We will see...
